In recent years we have designed three new platforms installed on the Halfdan field in the Danish sector of the North Sea and two identical unmanned wellhead platforms on the Valhall field in the Norwegian sector.

Cost-effective platform innovations

In cooperation with operators on the Danish continental shelf, Ramboll has been instrumental in pioneering and perfecting the mono-column platform – designed to recover oil from marginal fields at minimal cost. The monopod design is also a proven, cost-effective solution for the successive development of traditional oil fields in response to a possible production increase.

Jackets, risers and topsides

We have extensive experience in coordinating jacket, riser and topside design activities into integrated platforms. And our services include all elements of fit-for-purpose platform designs. Since 1981, we have designed 37 jackets – including 15 mono-column platforms – which now stand in the North Sea and the Persian Gulf.

To reduce costs without compromising safety and efficiency, we have successfully optimised the design of structures and facilities – in specific cases reducing the steel weight of jackets by up to 20 percent.
